My Macaron

I fall in love again! fall in love with Macarons!

It started when I feel that i have wasted a lot of egg whites. I used a lot of egg yolks for my kek lapis @ layercakes (please feel free to visit me at http://www.keklapis.com).

Usually, i will store the egg whites in the fridge until i feel my fridge crowded with my baking item. So, it is a time i have to let go the egg whites. Every time, when i have to do this i felt so guilty.

I think a lot how to overcome this guilty feeling and finally i remember about one email that came from Chef Tania in Singapore about French Macarons.

I can't afford to go to Singapore just to learn how to bake Macarons (same goes to my kek lapis story). So, i have only one choice - to surf the internet in order find the recipe!. I have printed too many recipes and downloading videos on french macaron making..but yet, no macaron baking yet.

As far as i am concerned, there is two methods in macaron baking. I choose the easiest way. I baked it for 3 times and FAILED!

I felt so disappointed but yet my feeling towards this tiny things make me wanted to try again for the forth time. This time, i used the Italian Method - pour the hot syrup into the meringue..Finally..my Macaron got FEET!!!!!!!!!!

From there, i have CSI a lot on how to bake this tiny thing and i have used about 3kg of almond ground to bake it. Alhamdulillah, I managed to get the "key" on how to make the macaron.

I need to stop writing now. InsyaAllah, there will be many postings on macarons making in future. Please support me!
